A Mystery of Light

Water dripped onto the floor from the alabaster bathtub. It was a steady dripping unto the floor. It soon formed a puddle in the dank bathroom. Asher unfurled his Covenant mat unto the floor and kneeled, holding his hands together in front of his chest.

"PATER noster," he began in a whisper as the bathtub dripped.

"Qui es in caelis," and so the room chilled, the bathtub dripped, and the lights flickered.

"Sanctificetur nomen tuum," he could see his breath in front of him. Asher closed his eyes. The water that filled the tub became still, and yet the dripping persisted...

"Adveniat regnum tuum..."

Drip.

"Fiat voluntas tua,"

Drip..

"sicut in caelo et in terra."

Drip...

"Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,"

Drip....

"Et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris."

Drip...

"Et ne nos inducas in tentationem,"

Drip..

"sed libera nos a malo."

Drip.

"Amen."

...Asher slowly opened his eyes...

Drip

There, at the edge of the tub, two bloodshot eyes peeked over. They were a bright red. The blood vessels had broken around the edges of them. Hair was matte black, sticking to pale, almost blue skin...drip.
